National Commencement Ceremonies
National Commencement brings students together from around the country. It helps address this sense of isolation as well as celebrate their incredible commitment and achievement.
Most University of Phoenix students attend classes online. Many feel isolated working alone and not having in-person contact with other students.
National Commencement is the largest, most important event at University of Phoenix with more than 26,000 people attending over two days during the summer.
To instill a sense of pride we cloaked the city in our new logo and brand colors. Commencement was the first time that our students got to see the full expression of the new brand (a journey that took over four years).
National Commencement became the template for all of the regional graduation ceremonies for the university.
National Commencement Media Campaign
Our teams created a campaign to generate excitement. Families and loved ones were not left out. Their contributions were acknowledged on interactive billboards at the event. Anyone could tweet a message that would then be broadcast to the whole auditorium. The number of photos taken at the event and posted to the university’s social pages is a testament to the success of Commencement — as well as to the success of the new brand identity.
